Several entrepreneurs agree that social media marketing is “the next big thing.” On that, they are right.

Since social media marketing emerged it has earned a reputation as a passive marketing tool and statistics from HubSpot shows that 92% of marketers claim social media is beneficial to their business while 80% indicate that their efforts increased traffic to their websites. However, reports from Social Media Examiner reveals that 97% of marketers are currently participating in social media, but 85% aren’t sure of what social media tools to use.

There’s a lot to be done in educating entrepreneurs on social media marketing, and the best way to begin educating them is by making them see how social media can improve their business. Below are some ways social media can improve a brands business.

  1. INCREASED BRAND RECOGNITION

Your social media channels are avenues for you to voice your brand’s identity and every opportunity you have to increase your brand’s visibility is valuable. This is important as it makes you more accessible to customers and makes you more familiar and recognisable to existing customers.

  1. IMPROVED BRAND LOYALTY

Research shows that brands which engage with their customers via social media channels enjoy higher loyalty from their customers. Companies should strive to take advantage of social media tools to connect with their audience. A strategic and open social media plan would prove effective in converting consumers into brand loyalists.

  1. MORE OPPORTUNITIES TO CONVERT

Every post made on a social media platform is an opportunities to get customers to convert. When building following, you will have access to new customers, old customers, and recent customers, and you will be able to interact with all of them. Every image, video, blog post, or comment you share is a chance to get a reaction from any of your followers which could lead to them visiting your site and making a purchase. It’s not every interaction that converts, but it increases the likelihood of an eventual conversion. Even if your click rates are low, the sheer amount of opportunities you have on social media is significant.

  1. HIGHER CONVERSION RATES

Social media marketing results in higher conversion rates in several ways and probably the most important is its humanisation element; the facts that brands gain that human touch by interacting in social media channels. With social media channels, brands can gain a personality and people prefer doing business with people and not with companies.
