Email Marketing has become a key marketing tactic for many a company worldwide and is of great use in the Restaurant, Hospitality and Tech sector that we operate in. Whether personal or business, the ability to compose efficient and effective email campaigns can be highly effective and productive for your Brand, both in terms of productivity and responsiveness.

Some may argue nowadays that the “millennials” prefer text messaging rather than emailing. Nonetheless, when it comes down to business corresponding and relationship, updates and newsletters emailing is the main method of communication.

In he current “Internet Age” you might find yourself clicking “reply,” typing a response and hitting “send” without giving so much as a thought about what you have just written. Experts often point out that bad emailing campaigns or behaviour can potentially cause serious harm to a brand or company so it is important that you pay the utmost attention to the basic elements that affect your results.

Here are some great tips you can easily make use of to start improving not only the views of your emailing but also, more importantly, the click through rates.

  • Maintain your Database

Your database is one of the most important digital assets your company has. Do not only try and identify why unsubscribing are doing so but also update it regularly with new users from your orders and find ways to keep your current users interested. A “Clean database” reduces the possibilities of your campaigns being marked as spam by email providers so it would not only improve your CTR rate but also the overall views of your newsletter or emails.

  • Eye-Catching Subject

At first, make sure never to send an email or newsletter without a Subject. A blank subject line puts your email in the “Spam” category and would rarely be even seen let alone opened. Now when it comes to promote a specific offer or deals, whether that maybe weekly or a  one-off, try and highlight in your Subject Line with as little words as possible used.

A carefully thought subject line, delivers the most important information, without the recipient having to necessarily open the email and hence be clear, concise and straight to the point.

  • Call to Actions

It is also very important to not only add Call-To-Action buttons (order here, view now, buy, reserve, etc) but also to present your customers with these as early as possible. Give them that option to skip the rest of the email if they do not wish to read it and more importantly there is something that has already caught their eye and they are willing to click to. Insert multiple links in your campaign such as hyperlinks behind images, words, etc and ideally all driving to the 1 same page you want your viewers to go to. In addition, have a clear and concise “Call-TO-Action” button that tells your readers exactly what you expect them to do next, and remind them why it’s in their best interest to do so.

  • Design and Layout

Finally, there is nothing worse than a customer opening an email and getting blinded by highlighted text or obscure colours. Be sure to research what colour mean and what emotion you are looking to invoke. Make sure to use the correct colour combinations and high quality images or designs that demonstrate your expertise. Depending on your subject matter, company culture and usual campaign, design your layout accordingly and keep it as clean and modern as possible.

  • Goodbye and Share

Finally, do not be shy to say GoodBye to your followers. Off course, always add an easy (functioning) “Unsubscribe” button as a lack of one can push recipients to voice their unhappiness on other outlets such as social media which could cause more damage.

Also, always add “Social Sharing” buttons to your email marketing communication. It not only makes it more likely that your message will be spread to a wider audience, but research shows that emails with social sharing buttons enjoy a 115% higher click-through rate than those that do not.Who wouldn’t want their email or newsletter to organically reach more followers and readers via recipients advertising their favourite brand? Give it a try !

Summarising, emailing is vital for the majority of industries nowadays and for a variety of reasons. It is crucial that you regularly update your contacts and also attract the, with a Key subject so as to attract that initial interest. However, do not stop there.

Create Call to Action (not too many) buttons and present them early to your fans to give them the option of a quick order or scan through of your products or services.

Present them with a beautiful layout that matches your company or Brand culture, logo or campaign theme and last but not least, say your thank yous” and offer the opportunity to share your campaign so as to maximise click-throughs and views.
