It may have sounded somewhat..odd a few years ago but Live-tweeting is kind of like note-taking, only it’s online, collective, and interactive and its very common and popular for big and small brands alike nowadays. When you hear a great quote from a speaker, or “tweetable tip” (as in, a key piece of dvice that can be abbreviated to less than 140 characters), all you have to do is type it up in a tweet and ship it out to the world. Your followers will see the tweet, and so will everyone following the event hashtag — and people can retweet, favorite, or reply to you. For attendees and organizers alike, live-tweeting has become a fixture at most live events, webinars, conferences meetups and lectures. Companies nowadays even hire people specifically to broadcast their event live to their masses of fans and followers online. First, let’s have a quick look on…

What is a blacklist? It is a question I actually had to answer to one of my clients this weekend in regards to their personal email address. What is a Blacklisted email address? A blacklist is a list of servers or domains that a blacklist operator has deemed it sends spam emails although not all blacklists are created equally. Smaller blacklists such as Spam Cannibal and NoSolicitado usually have less of an impact overall but some – such as SpamHaus and Barracuda – are well known and can be very powerful. The impact that a blacklisting has on “deliverability” depends on a number of things but mainly the recipient server subscribing to the blacklist. How does a blacklisting happen? If for example one of our customers sends an email campaign to a data-list he has bought or has scraped, or third party contacts (or even is simply very old) on that…

In 2017, the number of apps removed by Google represents a 70% increase from the amount in 2016. Leveraging machine learning models and techniques, Google’s Android Security Centre removed over 700,000 malicious apps in 2017, many of which displayed adult ads to children or tried to capture user devices to use as slaves in DDoS attacks. Product manager for Google Play, Andrew Ahn made the announcement, adding that 99% of apps which were deemed harmful were deleted before anyone could install them. In 2017, Google dedicated the bulk of its technology to malware scanning and detection under the Google Play Project and users with Android devices can manually activate scan on their phones via the update section. The most popular types of ads which were used to deceive users were copycat apps with logos, features and promotional copy similar to popular mainstays, usually with paid or fake reviews, something Google…

According to psychologist Robert Cialdini, Professor Emeritus of Psychology at Arizona State University, the key to persuasion is as much about timing as it is about the message itself. He describes this idea as “pre-suasion”, which is also the title of his new book. The text builds on his pioneering text influence which was released in 1984 and sold 3 million copies across the world. In the book, he laid out the six key principles of influence. The first tenet “reciprocity” is the idea that people return a favor that’s why retailers give out free samples and “commitment and consistency” suggests that we are more likely to follow through with an idea if we agree to it aloud or in writing. The third tenet is “social proof” which suggests that most of us are likely to repeat the actions of others, followed by “authority: which describes our leaning to obey…

In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Josh Silverman, new CEO of Etsy discussed giving the company a much-needed shakeup. As part of a lean marketing strategy, Silverman scrapped all marketing activities which aren’t likely to result in immediate results for Etsy’s vendors – including TV advertising – to focus on driving performance instead. These changes have begun to produce immediate results with a share price increase of 50%, and in the third quarter of 2017, they experienced a 13% increase in earnings. While this culling technique might be too extreme for some businesses, marketers can gain some valuable lessons from Etsy’s decision to ‘focus on the fundamentals.’ A lot of brands still plough the lion’s share of their creative resources and budget on top-funnel awareness campaigns, while neglecting the hugely important latter stages of the purchase funnel- continuing to drive their customers from expensive advertising campaigns to online stores…

Yikes! You’ve done it. On the spur of the moment you’ve gone ahead and followed all your colleagues on Twitter, and they have followed back. Now, there’s no going back. Everything has changed, and before you go on tweeting as before, there are some important rules you have to be aware of. DO NOT POST SLACK CONVO WITHOUT PERMISSION Thought your casual conversation with your workplace BFF was hilarious? Good for you. But, before you go ahead posting a screenshot for the world to see, take a second to consider whether your colleague would be cool with the world reading something he might consider private. GIVE THE ENIGMATIC PERSONAL TWEETS A SECOND THOUGHT If you feel a continuous urge to tweet sentimental song lyrics, and mysterious statements about your issues like to say a heartbreak, please refrain. Your colleagues are not going to favorite your 12 am “if they don’t…
