Instagram – the popular photo-sharing app – has officially rolled out Collections to its features. Some call “Instagram’s Pinterest Approach” ..others that its is merely a tool to help organise your ideas. Back in December, Instagram added the option for users to save other users’ posts for later viewing, or as known bookmarking but failed to offer any means of organising them. So it has now done exactly that as it aims to keep users on the platform as long as possible. UK Market Boosted by Smartphone Sales growth

A very interesting report was published by IMRG a few weeks ago in regards to UK Online sales exceeding £130 billion in 2016, fueled mainly by sales growth on smartphones. The IMRG is the UK’s online retail association – a membership community offering neutral and unique resources for online retailers. The report provides evidence of £133bn being spent online with UK retailers in 2016, which is almost £18bn more than the amount spent online in 2015 online. This also means that the Index registered growth is nearer 16% and slightly higher than the previous years although 2010 still remains the highest. Facebook New Alert to combat “Fake News”

Facebook has announced that it has initiated partnerships with third parties such as Snopes, Politifact, AFP, BFMTV, LeMonde and L’Express to act as fact-checkers for news and updates posted onto their multi-billion user platform. Mr Adam Mosseri, (Facebook vice-president of product management for newsfeed) gave a brief interview to the Financial Times outlining some of the details of this new project. “A commercial relationship is something that’s on the table and that we are very open to”. “It could depend on individual organisations, but we want to engage responsibly and if that means a financial arrangement, we are very open to it.” he noted to the Financial Times. This is not currently the only initiative that Facebook is engaging with.
