A verified badge is a check that appears next to an Instagram account’s name in search and on the profile. It means that Instagram has confirmed that this is the authentic account for a public figure, celebrity or global brand it represents. Instagram verifies accounts because well-known figures and brands have a high likelihood of being impersonated.
The main goal is to give a unique and fluid experience for people in the Instagram community. For those looking to be verified, it isn’t that simple. Instagram says that, only some public figures, celebrities and brands have verified badges. It’s not currently possible to request or purchase a verified badge.
If your account doesn’t have a verified badge, there are other ways to help let people know that you’re authentic. For example, you can link to your Instagram profile from your official website, Facebook page or Twitter account.
Work on your other social profiles
Building followers elsewhere will help Instagram to know that you are a genuine account. The Stockroom also say that if you build your brand on Instagram, this is where people will know you from. Therefore you will easily be found on that platform and it is unlikely someone with a similar name could be mistaken for you. Instagram verifying you would not be a high priority.
