Facebook has recently been making some significant changes with an aim of becoming a more evident, cross-platform player. It’s all down to a new capability that allows users to cross-post an Instagram story to their Facebook profile. Simply put, you can now send your videos to both platforms with a single post. As of yet the feature only works in one direction, Instagram to Facebook. However, Facebook has said it has ‘not ruled out’ a Facebook Story that can be cross-posted onto Instagram.

 

This is an update that could potentially cause quite a stir on social media and have enormous implications and advantages for Business users. It will allow companies to make much better use of their Instagram stories by also promoting them on their Facebook page, an option previously not available. This is not in a Test or Trial stage (that is what was happening the past month in Portugal) but in an implementation stage already and Facebook has confirmed to TechCrunch that the option is being rolled out as we speak.

“You now have the option to share your Instagram Stories to your Facebook Stories. We’re always working to make it easier to share any moment with the people who matter to you” a Facebook spokesperson told TechCrunch. In addition, as I am aware (thus far) this little hack does not work the other way round (crossposting your Facebook stories to Instagram) but nonetheless, I would not rule it out as an option for the future.

None of the above comes as a surprise, as despite the slow start Stories have had on Facebook this far, video marketing is a prevalent trend nowadays Facebook is seeking to actively explore and engage with and stories is the best medium for that.

However, there is a catch..The above is currently only available on personal profiles and not Brand or Company pages. Because business Pages can’t create Facebook Stories, their Instagram Stories also can’t be cross-posted, but there are signs that Facebook may soon allow Pages to create Stories. However, as mentioned above it will only be sooner rather than later that the above comes into play and hence getting to grips with InstaStories IS A MUST.
