Cross-post Instagram Stories to Facebook

Facebook has recently been making some significant changes with an aim of becoming a more evident, cross-platform player. It’s all down to a new capability that allows users to cross-post an Instagram story to their Facebook profile. Simply put, you can now send your videos to both platforms with a single post. As of yet the feature only works in one direction, Instagram to Facebook. However, Facebook has said it has ‘not ruled out’ a Facebook Story that can be cross-posted onto Instagram. This is an update that could potentially cause quite a stir on social media and have enormous implications and advantages for Business users. It will allow companies to make much better use of their Instagram stories by also promoting them on their Facebook page, an option previously not available. This is not in a Test or Trial stage (that is what was happening the past month in…

Twitter testing 280 characters tweets

(-1 Character)… But I need that emoji to show just how frustrated I am about the ending of the Dark Knight Rises! We’ve all be in a similar position, whereby we have to grudgingly go back and edit out words and re-phrase what we are trying to say due to the 140 character limit on Twitter. However all this could be changing as Twitter is currently conducting a trial that will double its character count – from the default of 140 to 280. Its not available for every user just yet as it is currently only in trial version by Twitter. Nonetheless, a number of tech savvy individuals have already discovered a workaround to get longer tweets a little earlier. Follow the simple steps below if your interested in increasing your character count to 280: Download Tampermonkey for your browser: Chrome webstore link Visit this Github repository, click the “raw” button, then tell tampermonkey to…

Opening up a restaurant (Infographic)

Starting your own business can be a daunting experience especially when you have never done so before and have limited funding or expertise in the industry. There are a number of factors that need to be carefully studied prior to any decision being made even at the initial stages of choosing a location. A good restaurant owner, will identify a niche in the market and attempt to exploit that niche to their best advantage whilst providing high quality. This is the tactic I have used with may of my clients who often approach me to identify suitable locations for their next ventures. A prime example would be Ginos Dial a Pizza which only started 3 years a go with 1 branch and has now expanded to 4 (on to the 5th by the end of the year with  the addition of Wolverhampton) but also Salathong, who were successful in Cambridge…

Fake Likes, should I go with it?

This is probably the most common social media “cheat” out there that many have already (incorrectly) made use of.  The market for buying fake followers has exploded in the past few years, and is now a multi-million dollar industry. And unfortunately, there is a real-world use case for fakes. I personally was contacted by an agency not that far from Cambridge, offering me a guaranteed 1000 (!!!!) likes and follows per month for 12 months. When I asked if they would be local and genuine users..I never got a response back. There are many different opinions as to the importance of likes but let’s be honest.. the number of followers and Likes a page or person has does make a perceptive difference. I am a strong believer in genuine likes (hence potential clients and advocates of your brand) and I will explain why further below. The problem is that buying fakes can hurt…

Diary of an Intern – My 1st Week

As I headed to the train station in Cambridge and on my way for my 1st day of helping at CFM Group as a Social Media and Digital Marketing intern, I was feeling just about every feeling there is to feel. Excitement, shyness, willingness to learn, apprehension, eagerness, uncertainty – they were all there, and that was just the tip of the emotional iceberg. I actually struggled sleeping the previous night..However, I was determined (and still am) to learn as much as I can about Digital Marketing in order to identify my strengths and weaknesses but also whether it is an industry I would like to work in, in the future. What is an internship? Simplified, it is an opportunity that companies offer students, in order for them to gain work experience in the field of their interest. I was often advised to take up an internship and also several times heard of…
